Depression

I think I’m suffering from depression. It’s probably a common thing for people in my situation, so I called my PCP today to see what can be done. I know of a lot of others who take antidepressant meds. There are quite a few of them out there, so which one is best for me? I have a 4:00 appointment.

What makes me think I’m depressed? I feel like sleeping all the time. I’m bored with my life and everything about it (not much interest in anything). I now just feel like I’m waiting around to die, and it’s just taking too long. I feel fatigued, even right after I wake up in the morning.

Hi Beth! Just checking in, and wondering what you’ve decided to do about the SCT. I know that you are terribly concerned, but remember, what used to be a somewhat risky procedure 10 years ago, is almost routine now. The Management of side effects has improved enormously. Just make sure you go somewhere that has a good reputation for nursing care. So far as I am concerned, that is the biggest factor is a smooth procedure and recovery. Let me know how things are going, and you are quite correct: depression is so very common in people of “our persuasion.” It sneaks up on you, and happily, responds well to the anti-depressants available. Don’t suffer: let you docs know what’s going on!
    Best regards, as always,
