I can’t sleep lately. I know I need to sleep, but it eludes me. It’s unusual for me not to sleep a solid 8 hours each night, and I’m not sure why this is happening!

My life as a myeloma patient for almost two decades
It used to happen to me on dex and it still does. I always find it best to “go with the flow”. Watch television or read a book. Sooner or later, usually after a couple of nights, the body will tell you to sleep and you won’t be able to stop it. I have found that trying to force myself to sleep when this happens only makes things much worse. Trite, I know, but it works for me.
Dex will do that to you, Fair Lady! Effects of dex range from sleepiness, wakefullness, and the whole range on “inbetweens”…strange effects varying with the person. When I was on the HD cytoxan/Dex (pulsed dex, 20mg for 4 days, then 7 days off), 3 to 4 hours sleep was enough, during the “on” phase. And I’m a “solid eight” person. Happily, I did not have any of the other famous dex side effects, i.e. hyper-activity, personality changes, etc. I stayed my normal, boring self.
Here’s hoping you get a “good nite”
